The LMSD "Soap Opera" And AT&T

I've been following this case about the Lower Marion school district using laptop cameras to take pictures of students. If you haven't heard it yet you can read the latest in this philly.com article where they talk about evidence that Carol Cafiero had not only captured 1000's of photos, but that she had email exchanges with other school employees about how they loved the software and the "little [Lower Marion School District] soap opera".

Reading the case so far, I'm constantly wondering why the hell nobody is in prison yet? Let me put this in perspective by explaining it this way:

Imagine that you read a news article where I was caught with the following:

  1. Chat logs from underage boys and girls on my laptop.
  2. Photos of underage boys and girls sleeping, eating, who knows what on my laptop.
  3. Software installed on their laptops without their knowledge or consent.
  4. A trail of email where I said I loved it and shared them with other freaks.

What do you think would happen to me?

I would be in prison getting raped like a little bitch and probably would be dead by the end of the year. They wouldn't even have a trial. Parents would be trying to kill me, set my house on fire, anything they could to get revenge. There would be rampant sensationalist news all over the world probably about the "teacher pedophile" who got caught with 1000's of photos of underage boys and girls.

But, if you're a woman and you're a school teacher, apparently this is just fucking quite alright for you do to and it's only a civil matter.

Now, I know what you might be thinking, maybe it's in loco parentis where schools have all the rights of parents but not the responsibility. You know what, that may be what's going on here, but I'm saying if it were a guy who did this they'd have torn him in half.

It's absolutely despicable that they aren't charged criminally and immediately. Every person who watched the soap opera is a potential pedophile, but there could be another reason that this is being overlooked that other teachers will really appreciate it.

What if Americans now think this is alright because Congress gave AT&T and Verizon retroactive immunity for basically the same thing. Teachers are always talking about public role models and how kids follow the examples of our leaders, so it fits that these teachers would probably do the same thing. They see Congress, the President, the NSA, AT&T and Verizon get away with massive illegal wiretapping and data collection on nearly every American and think...

"Hey what's a few snaps of that hot Robbins boy."
