Oh come on

I mean I know the Internet hates Flash atm, but did you ever think that it's all a bunch of groupthink?

As for the slow video thing.

Flash Cookies are there because normal cookies suck, they're adding similar stuff in HTML5 for that very reason. Don't panic they're limited to 100k unless you specifically grant more space. Chrome's "Clear data" dialog has a link to a url to help you manage them too, why don't other browsers do that I don't know.

As for the broken HTTP status thing. I don't know what you're talking about.

I develop for Flash on Linux. I use only open-source tools. The only thing closed is the player and I could care less. I've made games that are, and probably still, impossible to make using HTML5 to the degree of quality I desire -- and I made them ages ago. Flash development kicks ass on Linux.

As for security problems, nobody ever seems to back that claim up with actual data besides one-off bugs that have long been fixed. Like every other piece of software, yes, it has bugs, but like good software they get fixed. The LSO stuff is controlled and is not a security hole any more than regular cookies.

I believe hardware H.264 decoding is in the Flash 10.1 Beta for OS X right now. I'm assuming you're running OS X. Also, try Chrome if you're not already using it, it's got Flash built in, and surprise, it runs way faster.

Jesus Zed. Direct your anger against the dumb majority, not with it.
